SET PLAY 2: ‘Blood Brothers’ by Willy Russell 2 TASK 14 Draw sketches showing Mickey’s and Edward’s contrasting costumes, make-up and hair for Act 1 at their first meeting, when they are aged seven. Label the sketches, showing the differences between the costumes. It is important to consider: fabrics, condition of clothing, colours, shape and fit. TASK 15 Write an answer to the following question as a costume designer. Focus on Act 1, from ‘MRS LYONS: Hello, Mrs Johnstone …’ to ‘MRS LYONS: Oh, I see …’ You are a designer working on one aspect of this extract. Describe how you would use your design skills to create effects that support the action of this extract and explain why your ideas are appropriate both for this extract and the play as a whole . Set design For the set design, you might consider: stage configuration if you will use one main set to represent all locations or if you will have a number of different sets the scale (how large) your set will be if there will be any levels, ramps or stairs the entrances/exits if there will be backdrops, flats or projections the colour palette you will use how the materials, textures and shapes will help to create a suitable setting which props are needed.
