You must show an understanding of the play as a whole and your comprehension of how the events of the play affect the characters and the play’s design. Act 1 Opening – Late 1950s / early 1960s The Narrator introduces Mrs Johnstone and the play. Mrs Johnstone is pregnant with twins. Mrs Lyons convinces Mrs Johnstone to give up one of the twins. The twins – Mickey and Edward – are born. Mrs Lyons takes one of the twins. Mrs Lyons fires Mrs Johnstone. Seven years pass – 1960s Mickey and Edward meet and become ‘blood brothers’. Mickey, Edward and Linda get into trouble with the police. The Lyons decide to move away. Edward comes to say goodbye and Mrs Johnstone gives him a locket. The Johnstones are told they too are relocating. INTERVAL: Seven years pass Task B1 Explain three different ways in which you could show the passing of time in Blood Brothers .
