STEP 4 Confirming your costume designs For your designs to be agreed at the final design meeting, they need to be at final design stage themselves. This means that you need to produce quality designs that are your best work. You don’t need to be a great artist, but you do need to take time and care. Rehearsals will be well underway now. You should take your final design ideas into the rehearsal room and check if there are any new developments that affect you. For example, a character might need an additional garment such as a cloak to hide something under. Can you include this in your design? 1 If you have a number of designs that you like, try to bring it down to two. Just one is ideal. Completing the table below should help you to decide which costume is the most effective. Remember that your design needs to contribute to meeting the artistic intentions of the whole group. Check with the other designers that colour palettes work together and that the costumes will suit the proposed set and lighting. Extract: Period, mood, style and genre?
