Assessment overview – a reminder If you are a student in England, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands (and occasionally independent schools in Wales) you will be entered for Eduqas GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition. Two assessment components 1 Written examination COMPONENT 1: Principles of Food Preparation and Nutrition 50% of the qualification 2 Two non-examination assessments (NEAs)  These are the 2 assessed pieces of work you do in your final year of the course. COMPONENT 2: Food Preparation and Nutrition in Action (i) Assessment 1: The Food Investigation Assessment 15% of the qualification (ii) Assessment 2: The Food Preparation Assessment 35% of the qualification Key point This GCSE is a linear specification. This means that all assessments must be taken in your final academic year.
