Eduqas GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition: Student Book

6 MEET THE TEAM! Alison Clough-Halstead Alison Clough-Halstead has worked as a Food teacher for over 30 years, firstly in Manchester and now in Lancashire where she is lead in Food for KS3, GCSE and post 16, as well as being an achievement leader. She has been a moderator and examiner for two awarding bodies for over 10 years. Alison has also written resources and has been involved in face-to-face professional development from Licence to Cook to Food Teachers Centre’s guest presenter. Outside the classroom Alison’s life revolves around visiting different countries, especially the Far East, India and now the Caribbean. However after her last ‘break’ in Cuba – somehow breaking her ankle and leg – she is hoping to go back to see all the people who helped her…and finish her holiday properly! Bethan Jones Bethan has been a Food and Nutrition teacher for over 30 years, and during this time she’s been involved with exam setting, delivering CPD and examining and moderating for various examination boards. She likes nothing better than eating out and singing in a ladies choir at competitions home and abroad and at local charity events. Fiona Dowling Fiona Dowling has worked in food and education for over 30 years and has been lead teacher in Food at KS3, GCSE and post 16. She has been moderating and examining for a major Awarding Body for over 10 years, as well as writing online resources and excelling at face to face professional development provision. She is a simple soul to please – her idea of fun includes eating Italian food, preferably served al fresco somewhere on the Italian Riviera! Jayne Hill Jayne qualified as a Home Economics teacher back in the late 1970s and so has seen many changes to the subject over the years. As well as teaching in the London Boroughs of Bexley and Greenwich and latterly in Plymouth, Jayne also owned a small catering business and a restaurant/tea room. However, the call of the classroom pulled her back into teaching! She was the Principle Examiner and a Senior Moderator for GCSE Catering for a major Awarding Body. Outside the classroom Jayne’s life revolves around her two daughters and two Burmese cats – all of whom are lovely! She has also been a local Borough Councillor and Mayor and with what little free time is left she helps her daughters run an online business, chases the Northern Lights in the Arctic Circle and can usually be found planning her next holiday in the sun… Victoria Ellis Victoria is an examiner and moderator for Food and Nutrition and a published author in this field.  She has been teaching for 14 years at Cwmtawe Community School, SouthWales, but has recently taken a six month sabbatical to teach Home Economics in Lesotho. In her spare time (which is limited) she runs a Guide and Rainbow unit, and also enjoys going for long walks, especially ones that end in a coffee shop.
