Using dramatic devices, practitioners and genres Practitioners such as Constantin Stanislavski and Bertolt Brecht created fundamental tools and lessons for successful drama. You will learn about their techniques and other practitioners who built on their ideas in the chapter on practitioners. Some practitioners work within a specific genre. ‘Genre’ simply refers to the type, or category, of theatre to which a production belongs. Dramatic devices are visual tools used to communicate a particular impression or effect on an audience. Assessed through a portfolio of supporting evidence.
