1 Choosing your major activity Example: Character i st ics of a netbal l player Figure 1.4 Linking characteristics and components of tness You can use Figure 1.4 to apply characteristics and components of tness to examples within the game, for example: Making connect ions There will be links between characteristics and the components of tness as shown by the arrows in Figure 1.4, e.g. to be controlled within a game of netball you will need a good level of balance and coordination. To be effective as a centre in netball you may decide that cardiovascular endurance, speed and coordination are the top three components of tness needed (as indicated by the stars in Figure 1.4). As a centre in netball, I will need a good level of coordination within a game to produce controlled movements, such as catching and passing in one e cient movement to move the ball away from a defender.
