Your introduction 2 Example Introduction My practical pro le Name: Bella Mae Gender: Female Age: 15 Major activity: Netball Position: Centre Activity Individual/team Major/minor activity Netball Team Major activity Athletics – 400 m Individual Minor activity Rugby Team Minor activity My major activity will be netball. I have been playing netball for seven years and my positions are centre and wing a ack. I play for my school as well as representing my area’s netball hub. I train three times a week: Tuesday for school, Thursday for hub and Friday for my club. We play our club and hub fixtures on a Sunday and school fixtures tend to be on a Wednesday. I first started playing in primary school, after watching my sister play (she is a year older than me); she was in Year 5 at the time she started playing. When I went into Year 5 I had my first experience of playing, and this is where I learnt a lot of my basic skills such as catching and passing. I got selected to play for Year 6, which gave me lots of confidence and from that moment I fell in love with the game. Netball keeps me fit, as my position requires me to run a lot during a game which improves my aerobic endurance. I have met lots of friends through netball and this is another reason why I play the game. I am captain of the school team as I possess good communication skills. My strengths are my speed , exibility and agility as I’m quick to get into space and I can change direction quickly to get away from defenders. These components allow me to be fluent and controlled on court. I think my cardiovascular endurance could be improved as I tend to get tired towards the end of games. I have just been selected to play for the senior team within the club, which was one of my goals at the beginning of the season. My main goal is to play for Wales U17s, and I’m hoping to be selected for trials at the end of this season. In the first paragraph, Bella writes about when she started to play netball and her interest in the game. Bella is making connections here between components of speed, flexibility and agility and characteristics of fluency and control needed for the game. In the last paragraph, Bella has written about her successes and goals. 19
