How to use this book This book has been speci cally written for the non-exam assessment (NEA) component of the WJEC/Eduqas GCSE Physical Education Personal Fitness Programme (PFP). You must make sure that before starting any work on your programme you check with your awarding body to ensure you are working to the very latest and most up-to-date version of their speci cation. Updates or alterations to the speci cation are always clearly available on their websites. What is a PFP? A PFP is a personal tness programme which you (the student) will design to help improve tness performance in one of your chosen practical activities. This can also be called personal training programme depending on which speci cation you are following. This chosen activity will be known as your major activity (see Appendix 2, p. 104, for the activity list to choose from). WJEC: The name used is ‘Personal fitness programme’. Eduqas: The name often used is ‘Personal training programme’. How wi l l you complete your PFP? It is recommended that the programme be a minimum of eight weeks’ duration . Your teachers should ensure that your personal tness programme enables you to: • draw on appropriate theory and • collect, analyse and present data . The use of theory and data are assessed as part of the personal tness programme aspect of the major activity. This book will take you through step-by-step, providing you with examples of what to include, and opportunities to write in different sections as you develop your PFP. This will become a very useful draft to use when writing your nal presentation. You can use the checklist in Appendix 1, p. 103, as your success criteria to aim towards when you work through your PFP. Your PFP will need to meet the following objectives and you will be assessed against the marking criteria. For the teachers Always make sure that you’re working with the most current version of the speci cation.
