15 UNIT 1 Responding to visual stimulus A: The assessment 2 Number of tasks: 1 3 How many marks: 50 4 The skills Speaking: 10% Listening: 15% Therefore the emphasis in Unit 1 is on Listening/Viewing 1 Duration of assessment: 06 – 08 minute (pair) 08 – 10 minute (group) The task View a visual clip and then discuss the content and the theme . That is : (i) the characters’ opinion (ii) your own reaction and opinion The assessment will be in 2 parts: (a) viewing a clip (about 2 minutes) twice and completing a worksheet that will coincide with the clip (b) discussion between a pair or a group of three based on the clip’s content and theme (using the notes sheet to help you with the detail). In the non-examination assessment, you will be expected to show that you can take part in a pair/ group of three discussion by: 4 responding to a visual stimulus 4 communicating and interacting spontaneously with others 4 listening and responding to contributions from others 4 expressing opinions on various topics and justifying those views.
